Metchosin is located on the southern coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, a quick twenty minute drive from the capital city Victoria. It has a population of just over 5,000 residents on approximately 30 square miles of rural farmland and second-growth forests, bordered by the Strait of Juan de Fuca on its southern side.

Part of the Westshore Communities, Metchosin offers a rural community of wide open spaces, pastoral countryside and bountiful farmland. The heart of Metchosin is at the Village Centre, where Happy Valley Road and Metchosin Road intersect and a few stores, My-Chosen Cafe and the historic schoolhouse are located.

The seaside community of Spirit Bay boasts a new waterfront community in partnership with the Beecher Bay First Nation’s. With direct access to the Salish Sea, it provides breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountains.

Nature is at your fingertips with many hikes and trails to explore. Matheson Lake serves as a swimming hole for local residents with expansive trails to walk your pets. Explore Witty’s Lagoon or Tower point in the Albert Head Lagoon Regional Park. The Galloping Goose trails run through its parks allowing you to take equestrian tours through its forests.

Fulfill your hobby farm dreams with its agricultural landscapes. With sweeping pastures, you’ll see many barns with horses, ponies, alpacas and cows. It’s windy roads are perfect for an afternoon joy ride.

End the day exploring tidal pools at Witty’s Lagoon Regional Park. An afternoon hike through this park will allow you to visit their Nature Centre, Sitting Lady Waterfall, freshwater creek, salt marsh and sandy seashore. Visit during low tide and walk out onto the ocean floor, with plenty of sea creatures to observe.
